Halloween has always been my second favorite day of the year. I loved trick or treating when I was a child, I loved takin my daughter trick or teating when she was a child and now I love seeing all the little ones in their custumes wondering what kind of thing will open the next door they go to, Boo!
We had a pretty good Halloween this year. Sixteen little monsters and princesses came to get tricked or treated. That’s 16 more than I had last year, LOL
.It’s nice to see the parents dressing up too, even if it is only a mask hat, or wig.
While I am here I will post a couple of more Elderberry recipes. Let me know what you would like information on and I will find it and post it here or post links to sites you can look on yourself.
Elderberry Flower Fritters from Alan JoellenbeckÂ
Pick complete flower heads, wash and drain them. Holding the flower head upside down, dip them into a thin pancake batter. Set the flower head in hot oil and cook until light brown, remove and drain on a paper towel. Sprinkle the baked flower head with powdered sugar and enjoy. One may also add cinnamon to the sugared flower heads if desired.Elderberry Jelly from Alan Joellenbeck 2 quarts elderberries with stems removed 2 cups water 1 box pectin 5 cups sugar Simmer the elderberries in the water until berries are soft. Strain through a cloth bag. Be sure you have 3½ cups of juice; if not, pour a little water through the crushed berries. Return the 3½ cups juice to pan. Add pectin to the juice and bring to a boil. Stir in the sugar and bring to a full rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat, skim and pour into hot sterilized jars. Seal with hot paraffin immediately. Well have to get some promoting done so I will be back as soon as I can to see what you want to learn more about or what you would like to tell us about.
